From the Peanut Gallery!
Hi Annabel. My name is Maggie. I was wondering where the proverbial term “peanut gallery” originates from. Is that some place for us dachsies to get a tasty treat?
Maggie the dachshund.
Dear Maggie, You know, of course, that I work for peanuts writing this column, but I am happy to answer your question.
Love, Annabel

Wiener Dog 12-Pack
The word on the street is that a Wiener Dog Pack or Dachshund Pack is slang for a 12-pack of soda packaged in one of those elongated cardboard containers that fit nicely in your fridge. To gain perspective on the size of a Miniature Dachshund, just run down to your Grocer and pick up […]

Dachshund Traveling Safety - One Approach
Re: Who has experience with….
Rhonda’s making some special hook to put between my pup’s harness and the seatbelt. I can’t decide if I should get a carseat, too, so they can see out the windows.

Dachshund Tripod
Dachshunds are very resilient dogs. I m reminded of this every time Odie lifts his hind leg to pee. Something so common to a male dog brings tears to my eyes only thinking that 7 months ago Odie was paralyzed and could not walk. The three-legged stance is a testimony to his courage, strength and recovery from […]

the happy hugger!
Dear Annabel,
My husband had me searching all over the internet trying to find out an answer to why our little doxie Lucie likes to hug, she will get up on your chest and put her nose over your face and lay there. She will also do it if your sitting on the couch she will get on back of the couch and come around the back of your shoulders to “hug” you!! Any ideas???

This seems like a trick questions - maybe one with no answer, but I think I can help!
Thanks for asking,

This Dachshund Puppy has a new set of Paws
I spent a good part of the day updating the Three-Miniature Dachshund site today which did not leave much time for our three Doxies: Chloe, Odie and Molly. I hope you like the new format. The links were getting a little cluttered making it hard to navigate around the Doxie site. Enjoy! chloedoxiesminiature […]

I’m Getting Maggie Tomorrow!!!!
Hi everyone…I just got a call from Zerina…she is meeting me tomorrow night to give me my baby! I am so excited…nervous about maybe having to deliver puppies on the way, but I’m going to get her at about 9 tomorrow night. I have a friend who is going to drive me and dolly will be coming along. Her temp is 98.9 now so i’m watching her close. She is otherwise her normal self…still running around and playing so it may be a false alarm.

That is too funny. Love the picture. Beemer licks my big dachsie’s ears and feet. Webster is the Alpha Male, so Beemer might be showing him respect. He will do it until I tell him…

The nervous groom wonders about mooning his honey!
Dear Annabel,
As you know my beloved and I will soon join paws in marriage. I have been planning our honeymoon, when it occured to me that “honeymoon” sounds very strange. Why is it called that - do I have to moon my honey?
Lost in Love,
Rusty
My Dearest Rusty,
You really are a bundle of nerves over your impending wedding to Roo! Actually, once I can get my hooman typist to stop laughing I will answer your question. It makes perfect sense to me why you might connect the term honeymoon with mooning your honey, but mommy think’s it’s hilarious.
Read on and as usual, thanks for asking.
Your friend and bride’s maid, Ananbel
