Mikkey’s Sad Weekend

It was a busy weekend and this did not prove to be a good thing for Mikkey. Friday evening the smaller people in the family (phoenixtail and ferret boy - don’t blame me they chose their own nicknames) went to stay with grandparents and Beautiful and Weasel reveled in parenting freedom at a bbq hosted by Beautiful’s cousin. After a great deal of frivolity Beautiful drug Weasel back home to find two dachshunds who were very excited to see people again since they were sure they had been alone for days.Saturday, people and dachshunds alike slept late and then Weasel had to rush off to get the kids and bring them back home in time to meet his parents who had recently returned from being snowbirds in California. Once the parents arrived everyone ran off to a restaurant for lunch leaving Mikkey and Abbie alone again. Well, alone with Tyler the submissive mut and she who is known as Bianca. When everyone returned from the meal it was time for the parents to go leaving Mikkey quite distressed about not getting to go with them. He has a great fondness for Weasel’s mother who, unfortunately, does not return the sentiment. Adding to his saddness, Phoenixtail had to return to her other grandparent’s home to help with some dog sitting. Another dog, oh the agony of betrayal! That night the rest of the family left again to go to dinner at some friend’s house leaving an increasingly pouting Mikkey behind. Life is not fair!

By the time Sunday rolled around Mikkey had had enough. He ramped up his normal calls for attention and when people dropped by the house three different times that day he was downright forceful in his demands that they make up for the attention his family was clearly withholding from him. Between the additional attention from the guests and Phoenixtail returning home in the early afternoon Mikkey was able to relax his troubled mind by bedtime allowing the rest of the household to breathe a sigh of relief. Today Mikkey has returned to his normal mellow self so it seems there has been no permenant damage. Still, no one is making any sudden movements around him just to be safe.
