X-Men: The Last Stand psp
This weekend brought a flurry of activity in Wild Doxie land. A decision was made to paint the kitchen walls and cabinets and that brought about major upheavel. Abbie does not care for upheavel as it tends to interfere with her napping and takes her people’s attention away from what’s really important – HER. On Saturday the family sanded, painted, and otherwise made life miserable for our heroine as she did her best to struggle through only requesting to be held and reassured once every 20-30 minutes. By the time Sunday came she was so distressed she actually chose to pitch a hand – or in this case a tail – to help get the project done. Look carefully at the picture and you’ll see that the white “tip” of Abbie’s tail is in fact paint. There was some debate as to how much help she really offered but it must have been a great deal for when asked about it Abbie was too tired to respond.

Ran across this photo today and couldn’t help but put it up. Poor Zoey – we hardly knew you. Zoey would have been about 4-5 months old here just a month away from the accident that took her away from us. This is a picture taken one morning while Phoenixtail tried to convince Zoey she should go potty OUTSIDE even though it was dripping water from the sky. Just about any dachshund owner I know is familiar with that trial.

Abbie decided the baskets were getting way too much attention. That could only mean that she was not getting enough. Yes, she is a dachshund princess! Weasel blames Beautiful for her spoiling but of course Beautiful blames Weasel – it’s hard to know where the truth is. The only thing that is certain is Abbie is sure we should be petting her right now!

Mikkey became certain that there was chocolate or other edibles in one of the easter egg baskets. We eventually had to seperate him from the basket as his interest became a bit too intense! Really though, he should have been happy. A dachshund’s height makes him perfectly suited to find more eggs than the rest of the hunters.

Having grown up with mutts as a kid entering the world of the wild doxie was eye opening for weasel. Dachshunds, like most pure bred dogs, have some very strong traits because of the purpose for which the dog was bred or designed. As popular as dachshunds are it seems that the majority of people are not familiar with the history and design of the breed. They are simply “weiner dogs” to many and thus funny because of their shape and/or size. Wild Doxies is going to begin documenting some of the endearing and not-so endearing qualities of our favorite canine here on a semi-regular basis. While every dachshund is unique and has it’s own personality there are a number of overall tendencies that should be recognizable to almost anyone familiar with doxies. Check back often to learn more about the dachshund – or to set us straight when we miss the mark.
