Recently Weasel’s friend from Colorado (and Godfather to me and my brother) stopped by for a short visit. Along with our Godfather came Jessa and Wyatt, the Godfather’s little weasels.

Jessa absolutely loves Bailey, as shown in the picture above. Bailey on the other hand seems to want a little help. Although Bailey (being the weirdo that she is) loves kids, that wonderful cat-carrying technique Jessa is using might need a bit of revising since Bailey seems to be saying “Help Me”.

Bailey wasn’t the only one who got a ton of love. The Doxies had their fair share as well. Wyatt wasn’t as obsessed with the animals, but he did seem fond of Mikkey, giving the attention-obsessed dog some much needed attention from someone other than our family.

Sorry for the long delay in posting, we’ve had this thing on our hands.

Meet Bailey, the psycho-cat. We recently took her in and she’s been a little bundle of trouble. She is not like a normal cat, and it’s not just her appearance that makes us think that. She is one of those Dachshund cats (Munchkin is the breed), which means she has a longer than normal body and short legs (like a dachshund!), her coloring is also off. Most cats that have orange fur like this are males, while calicos are female.

Bailey’s personality is a little screwed up too. She enjoys chasing her tail and watching TV, which leads us to believe that she not only thinks she is a cat, but also a dog and a person!

Although the Doxies are not extremely happy we have this new cat, they seem to get along fine; if fine includes Abbie chasing the cat whenever she can.

Okay, in truth Mikkey was much more interested in simply hanging out his beautiful mother in her new greenhouse than he was in the plants that are housed there. He did inspect each one to confirm whether they looked edibile but decided to give up his snack and simpy stare at Weasel.

Both dachshunds have been thrilled with the nicer Northwest weather lately which has meant more time with the family outside. They seem intrigued by the “little house” in the back yard and prefer that the door be left open so that they can easily check in with anyone who is gardening inside. A closed door is usually quickly followed by a small scraping sound on the other side as a reminder that “the rules” are being broken.

According to Weasel download American Teen blogspam is not as effective as it once was for increasing rank in search engines but apparently some people haven’t figured that out yet. We’ve always had to spend a few extra minutes at the keyboard doing some spam filtering but things have increased lately to the point that it’s gotten kind of annoying. In the past WildDoxies would get around 300 spam comments in a month but recently we must have gotten on a new blogspammer’s list as it has increased to 500 in the last 7 days!

There was a lot of discussion at Wild Doxie central and Mikkey thought maybe we should just turn off the comments at least for a while. Mikkey is pretty laid back and it seemed like an easy answer. Abbie on the other hand is more aggressive (as long as she is behind a door, fence or Weasel’s legs) and wanted to fight at all costs. The tie had to be decided by Weasel and he voted with Abbie which didn’t really bother Mikkey since it allowed the meeting to be over so he could go back to napping. Trouble is that both dogs get to go nap and Weasel has to do research tonight on some anti-blogspam options. Maybe voting with Mikkey was a wiser thing to do.

Mikkey and the Balloons (Hot Air Type!)

The whole family went out to a local Balloon Stampede last weekend and Mikkey was allowed to join in on the fun. (We were told later that when they fill the gas tanks for the balloons that it can hurt dogs ears – luckily that didn’t happen – but Mikkey will not join us on this type of event again.) Mikkey felt like a prince (in other words the way he wants to feel all the time) as Beautiful carried him almost the entire time we were near the balloons. 40+ hot air balloons all lifted off from a local open field and it was quite something to see.

While everyone watches the last balloon rising into the sky Mikkey looks back to make sure Weasel doesn’t get left behind. What a good doxie!

After losing Zoey the entire family was depressed and it didn’t take long for us to go searching for another dachshund. Not finding any puppies in the local area a much wider net was thrown, all the way to Minnesota. (That’s right not only does Mikkey have the muscular body of the norse god Thor he also comes from the Norseland of the U.S. as well) This is one of the first photos we saw of Mikkey and it made quite an impression on Beautiful – she simply had to have him. Dacshund puppies are so cute before their noses “pop out” and Mikkey is as cute a doxie pup as you would likely ever find. Now if we could get him to stop licking he might be the perfect dog.

Shogun move Can you say slumber party? The Wild Doxies can and they did. A surprise visit from Harley, who visited several months back, turned into an overnight event complete with doggie treats and a little competition for affection. Harley continues to be thrilled with the chance to male bond (See our October 20, 2006 post) which is just as well since Abbie is not sure there needs to be anymore dogs in the house to take attention away from her.
